Ernie and Amy Mares began seeing each other in high school in 1937 and were married for more than 50 years. Amy passed away in 2009. In 1997, she suffered a stroke from which she partially recovered. Since then, she lived at a retirement home in Erie, PA. Ernie made daily visits to her while still living in their home. Amy was barely able to speak and could do little on her own, but Ernie’s love was steadfast.

There are 22 house boats on Presque Isle State Park’s Horseshoe Pond in Erie, PA. In addition to the home   owners who spend many days and nights relaxing in their house boats, visitors frequent the pond to fish and spend time with family and friends.

Since it opened in 2004, Houghton Skate Park in Long Beach, CA, has been scrutinized by the community saying it has brought the wrong element to the area. Many people come to hang out, skate, and drink or do drugs on a a daily basis. Yet, many believe the park is an important part of the community.
